Ingredients:

Potatoes (mashed) - 2 cups
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Red Chili Powder -1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Ginger & Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Onion - 1/2 cup (chopped)
Green Chilies - 2-3 (chopped)
Mixed Vegetables - 1 cup
Bread Crumbs - 1/2 cup
Salt - 1 tsp
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Cheese - 1 cup (grated)
Crescent or Pizza dough - 8 oz.
Black Peppercorns - 20-25 qty.
Popsicle sticks - 10 qty.

Instructions:

How to Make Mummy Samosa Filling:
1

In a large frying pan, add 3 Tbsp oil.

2

Once the oil is hot, add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds and 1/2 tsp mustard seeds. Let them fry for 1-2 minutes or until they start popping.

3

Next, add 1/2 cup chopped onion and saute for 2-3 minutes.

4

Add 1 tsp ginger / garlic paste and saute for a few seconds.

5

Add 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, and 1/2 tsp garam masala. Let the spices toast for about one minute.

6

Once toasted, add 2-3 chopped green chilies, 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots & corn) and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

7

Next, add 2 cups mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, and 1 tsp salt. Combine everything together well and set aside and let cool.

How to Build the Mummy Samosa Pops:
8

To form the mummy samosas, take 4-5 Tbsp of the potato mixture and form a flat patty shape.

9

Create a groove in the middle of the patty and add some of the grated cheese.

10

Close up the patty around the cheese and form an oblong shape.

11

Take prepared crescent or pizza dough and cut it into long thin strips.

PRO TIP: You can buy premade dough, or make your own simple pizza dough!

12

Take one strip at a time and wrap around the patty in different directions to give it that “mummy” look.

13

Insert a popsicle stick at the bottom of the patty and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

14

To form the eyes, take a small piece of dough and form into a ball. Place a black peppercorn in the middle of the dough, and stick the eyes onto the patties.

PRO TIP: Nestle the eyes in between and slightly underneath the strips of dough for a more realistic mummy look!

15

Place in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

16

Serve with your favorite chutney and enjoy this spooky treat.

Happy Halloween!

What a creative treat! I used vegan cheese and Trader Joe’s organic crescent rolls. Fabulous! Mind the chili quantities..some may not like it crematory “hot”.
