Chana Dal with Bell Peppers

Ingredients:

2 cups Chana Dal (Dried Split Chickpeas)
⅓ cup Oil
1 medium size Onion (roughly chopped)
2 Green Chillies (roughly chopped)
1 tsp Garlic paste
3 medium sized Tomatoes (roughly chopped)
1 tsp Cumin Powder
1 tsp Chilli Powder
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tsp Salt (or as desired)
1 cup Yogurt (non-flavored)
1 Bell Pepper (diced)
4 cups Water
Handful Cilantro

Instructions:

1) Soak the chana dal in water for 1 hour.

2) Add the chana dal to a pot with 3 cups of water. Boil for ½ hour or until soft.

3) In a separate pan, heat the oil and saute the onions until golden brown.

4) Add the garlic paste, tomatoes, cumin, chili, turmeric, coriander, garam masala, and salt. Cook for about 5 minutes on medium heat.

5) Add the yogurt and mix well for a few minutes on medium heat until the oil has come to the surface.

6) Add dal and ½ cup of water. Cook with lid on medium heat for 10 minutes.

7) Add the bell peppers, another ½ cup of water, and simmer for 5 minutes.

8) Garnish with cilantro.

Serve and Enjoy!
